Social Concerns Ministries are rooted in our baptism call and invite all parishioners to reflect how do we live our faith in caring for God’s creation
Saint Anne has several ministries and organizations working, caring, and developing projects within the arena of Social Concerns. These ministries and organizations are here to confidentially help our parishioners and beyond with issues of daily living as well as enlist helpful resources. These programs also reach out to help people worldwide, nationally, statewide, and locally in our community. Much of this outreach is through programs in which religious education students, youth ministry, parishioner organizations, schools, and volunteers come forward to give of their time and talent to tackle an issue of “mission work”.
The Social Concerns at Saint Anne serves many needs of our parish community including
- Food Pantry – With the generosity of our parishioners St. Vincent De Paul Society assists families with supplemental groceries almost every day as well as an Annual Food Drive in the church and school.
- Hunger Walk – The Youth Group promotes and participates in a walk for the end of hunger. The pledges are in form of non perishable food that is donated to the local Soup Kitchen.
- Sandwiches for the Poor – Saint Anne School Fifth Graders students make sandwiches for the local soup kitchen. Students are cognizant of the needs of those who many times don’t have food.
- Annual Angel Tree – During Advent St. Vincent De Paul collects Christmas gifts for several families. Each year St. Vincent De Paul distributes gifts for families bringing smiles and the joy of Jesus’ gift to children, whose families have a limited or minimal income.
- Recycle Team – Saint Anne School students work together in a Recycle Team. Once a week the students collect paper for recycle in all classrooms and offices of the school.
- Homeworks Mission – The youth of the parish spends a week in Fayetteville, South Carolina. The teens help many householders to repair their houses, fences, garages, and gardens. They even built ramps for the handicap.
- Baby Bottles – The prolife ministry collects money for pregnancy centers. The funds are mainly used to educate mothers and put them back on their feet.
- Family Promise – working with several local churches, our congregation promote participation in this ministry. It provides meals and overnight services periodically throughout the year.
All parishioners are invited to participate in any project or ministry work. Check the bulletin for ongoing programs information. New idea, interests, and questions are always welcome! There is much more to be done.
